In this four-part blog series, we look back on our company history – from our beginnings in Stuttgart to becoming an IT service provider operating worldwide.

In the first part of our anniversary series, we traced ITVT’s development from its Stuttgart location to a globally positioned IT partner. But growth alone tells only part of our story. Since our founding in 2001, it has above all been one quality that has shaped ITVT: closeness to our customers.

Innovation Begins with Listening

Right from our first years, we were active in a wide variety of projects and industries. We looked after IT infrastructures, supported data migrations, developed interfaces between systems and helped companies digitalise their business processes. In doing so, we did not only get to know technologies. Above all, we got to know the people, processes and challenges behind those technologies.

Driven by our founders Jochen Klipfel and Patrick Kreuzer, this closeness to customers became a firm part of the way we work at an early stage. With our consulting approach, the “ITVT Capability Mapping”, we did not merely analyse requirements – we looked at companies holistically: their processes, their workflows and their strategic goals. Today, ITVT still pursues exactly the same consulting approach with the “ITVT Maturity Models”: meeting our customers exactly where they currently stand.

That this approach works was already evident in a genuine pioneering project: for Mall GmbH in Donaueschingen, ITVT implemented the first Microsoft CRM system on the European continent. Today, Microsoft looks like a self-evident market leader in the business software space. In 2003, however, that was by no means a given. Opting for Microsoft CRM took courage, a willingness to innovate and, above all, the trust of a customer prepared to break new ground with us. It is precisely this pioneering spirit that shapes ITVT to this day.

Challenges Become Solutions

The deeper we immersed ourselves in our customers’ processes, the clearer a pattern became: many companies were facing similar challenges within their respective industries. Our close cooperation with numerous well-known companies in the energy sector therefore gave rise, in 2006, to ITVT’s first in-house industry solution: “REGIS”.

“REGIS” stands for “Regulierungs-Informations-System” (regulatory information system) and was far more than just a software solution. It was proof that genuine industry knowledge and technological expertise can set new standards together. Even back then, regulatory requirements were generating an enormous documentation workload – one that could be automated with the help of this in-house development.

At the same time, REGIS laid the foundation for a development that still defines ITVT today: building our own solutions on the basis of real customer requirements.

A special moment: the team around Patrick Kreuzer and Jochen Klipfel with the first REGIS release.

From a First Product to an Entire Family of Solutions

The experience gained from REGIS fed into further innovations over the years. A particular milestone followed in 2017 with the official launch of the “Stadtwerk365” industry solution at E-world energy & water in Essen. The solution went on to become ITVT’s best-known industry platform today, supporting municipal utilities and energy providers in digitalising their customer and business processes.

But the idea behind “Stadtwerk365” was the same as with REGIS: not to develop technology for technology’s sake, but to create solutions that address the concrete challenges of an industry. This principle was applied consistently to further industries:

2012 – ITVT Industry Solution for companies in manufacturing and production
2018 – Chemical365, a CRM solution tailored specifically to the requirements of the chemical industry
2020 – Pharma365, a platform that takes account of the particular requirements of the pharmaceutical industry

Today, ITVT has an extensive portfolio of industry-specific solutions built on decades of experience and close cooperation with customers.

One industry solution grew into an entire family of solutions: Stadtwerk365, ITVT Industry Solution, Chemical365 and Pharma365.

A Holistic Approach to Digitalisation

As our customers developed further, so did the demands placed on ITVT. While the earliest projects often concerned individual systems or processes, there was a growing desire for integrated end-to-end solutions. ITVT therefore consistently expanded its portfolio beyond the CRM sphere.

Today we support our customers not only with customer relationship management processes, but also with the digitalisation of core business operations in the ERP environment. As a Microsoft partner, we help companies map their entire process landscape onto a shared technological foundation. From sales and marketing through service to finance and operational processes, this creates seamless digital value chains.

Artificial Intelligence: A Topic with a History

When artificial intelligence is discussed today, it still strikes many people as a relatively new subject. For ITVT, however, AI was already a trending topic before it became a trending topic around business applications among the wider public. Since as far back as 2015, we have been working intensively on the possibilities of intelligent systems and their practical use in business processes. Long before AI became a global trend, we were investigating together with customers how automation, data analysis and intelligent assistance systems could be meaningfully integrated into everyday work.

Here, too, the same principle applies today as it does to all technological innovation: technology only unfolds its value once it solves concrete challenges. Today, many companies face the very same challenge: the possibilities of artificial intelligence appear almost limitless. Yet not every idea creates genuine added value.

That is why we see our role not only as a technology partner, but as a guide for AI transformation. Together with our customers, we identify the use cases in which AI can make a measurable contribution to processes, productivity and business success.

Across industries, AI is already integrated in everyday work—supporting customer service, finance, supply chains, marketing, and executive decision‑making, and more. Hannover Messe 2026: Which innovations ITVT will show – and why they are important right now

When international industry meets again at the Hannover Messe in the spring , the focus will not only be on new technologies, but also on answers to current economic challenges. Many companies are currently under pressure: investment decisions are being made more cautiously, budgets are being scrutinised more closely and projects must deliver clear added value.

Especially in such times, the question of which innovations really help to make companies more productive and resilient is crucial.

IT Vision Technology (ITVT) has therefore given intensive thought to which solutions should be presented at the Hannover Messe. Three product managers provide an insight into which topics are of particular concern to them – and why they are convinced that it is precisely these solutions that are currently hitting the nerve of many industrial companies.

Digitization in difficult times: CRM as a productivity engine

For Michael Beckers, Product Manager for CRM Systems at ITVT, one thing is clear: The manufacturing industry is currently facing major challenges. At the same time, he sees enormous potential for intelligent digitization right now.

For many years, ITVT has been working with companies from the manufacturing industry and supports them in the digitization of business processes with its industry solution Industry Solution. Its customers include large industrial groups such as Thyssenkrupp and Bosch, which have been able to make their sales, service and project processes more efficient with the help of modern CRM systems.

“The manufacturing industry has always been a central part of our customer base,” explains Beckers. With our Industry Solution, we have helped companies digitize and automate their sales and service processes – from lead processing to after-sales service.”

At the same time, Beckers observes that many companies are currently investing more cautiously. This is precisely why it is important to offer solutions that combine a manageable risk with clearly calculable results.

“We are currently experiencing a more difficult investment climate. But innovation must not come to a standstill as a result,” says Beckers. With our QuickStart product line, we enable companies to adopt CRM solutions quickly – with a defined range of functions, clear implementation time and a transparent price.”

The idea behind it: Companies can drive digitization forward even in economically uncertain times and at the same time avoid the risk of a major transformation project.

Another focus at the Hannover Messe will be the use of AI agents in CRM . ITVT will be presenting the ITVT Sales Companion and the ITVT Service Companion, two intelligent assistance systems that are intended to support sales and service processes.

When Excel is no longer enough: ERP systems for growing companies

Manuel Bachmann, Product Manager for Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central, also observes a development in the ERP area that many companies are familiar with: Business models are becoming more complex, companies are growing faster – and existing systems are reaching their limits.

“Many companies try for a long time to map their processes with Excel,” says Manuel Bachmann. But Excel is not an ERP system. At some point, the point will be reached where this solution is simply no longer scalable.”

Small and medium-sized companies in particular are faced with the challenge of efficiently managing new digital requirements, more data and more complex processes. It is no longer just a matter of replacing Excel with an ERP system. Modern solutions such as Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central offer a fully integrated platform that is deeply embedded in the Microsoft world – from Microsoft 365 to Power Platform to Azure services.

This gives companies all the options they need to drive their digitalization forward step by step: automated processes, end-to-end data flows, central transparency and the flexibility to map different business models in parallel – from project business and series production to service or rental models.

Here, too, ITVT relies on a pragmatic approach. “With our QuickStart solution for Business Central, we enable companies to quickly get started with a modern ERP system,” explains Manuel Bachmann. Especially in economically challenging times, it is important to implement innovation with a manageable risk.”

A modern ERP system can not only structure processes, but above all significantly increase internal productivity – and equip companies for the digital future in the long term.

From machine sales to service business: Focus on subscription billing

Another trend that concerns many companies in the manufacturing industry is the change in business models. More and more manufacturers are no longer selling their machines just once, but are also offering them as service or rental models .

The keyword is subscription billing.

For Andreas Weissenburger, Product Manager for Microsoft Dynamics 365 FSCM, this topic is one of the most exciting developments in the industrial environment.

“Many manufacturers are evolving from a classic product provider to a provider of services and recurring services,” explains Weissenburger. This brings enormous opportunities – but also new requirements for billing.”

In practice, a problem often arises: Many ERP systems were not originally designed for complex subscription or service contracts. The consequence is that services are not billed in full or sales are lost.

“In many companies, we see that sales are actually lost because subscriptions or service contracts are not properly mapped in the ERP system,” adds Weissenburger. If services are not recorded correctly or billed automatically, money falls by the wayside.”

Microsoft has therefore already integrated extensive functions for subscription models into Dynamics Finance & Supply Chain Management.

However, ITVT is going one step further and is also presenting its own development at the Hannover Messe: the ITVT Subscription Billing Agent.

This supports companies in automatically managing complex subscription and service contracts and billing them correctly.

Innovation despite economic uncertainty

The discussions with the product managers show a clear picture: Many companies are currently under economic pressure. At the same time, the need for more efficient processes and intelligent digitization is growing.

From the "fish sandwich trade fair" to the industry platform of the future – and why ITVT will be there in 2026

There is a good reason why thousands of companies, engineers and decision-makers from all over the world meet in Hanover every year: the Hannover Messe is considered the most important industrial trade fair in the world.

Its story begins in 1947, just two years after the end of World War II. Under the name “Export Fair Hannover”, it was intended to help reintegrate the German economy into international trade flows. The first trade fair took place from 18 August to 7 September 1947 – and brought visitors from 53 countries to Hanover.

The event even had a curious feature at the time:

With each ticket, visitors received a fish sandwich and a glass of trade fair wine. Therefore, the event quickly earned the nickname “Fish Roll Fair”.

But this improvised post-war mass developed into an impressive success story. Today, the Hannover Messe is a global platform for industrial innovations – from mechanical engineering and automation to digitalization and artificial intelligence.

A stage for technological milestones

For decades, the Hannover Messe has repeatedly been the scene of significant technological developments. It became clear early on which innovations would shape the industrial world in the coming years. An early example of this is the year 1959, when digital computers for industrial applications were presented for the first time at the trade fair . What sounded like a dream of the future at the time was the beginning of a development that was to fundamentally change industrial production. Computers gradually became a central component of modern production facilities and laid the foundation for the digitization of industry.

More than fifty years later, another term was coined at the Hannover Messe that is now known worldwide: Industry 4.0. The concept was first presented in 2011 and describes the comprehensive networking of machines, products and production systems. Production plants communicate with each other, data is analyzed in real time and processes can be flexibly controlled. This makes the factory smarter, more efficient and much more adaptable to new market requirements.

Today, another technological topic is the focus of the Hannover Messe: artificial intelligence in industry. AI systems help companies evaluate large amounts of data, automate business processes, and make informed decisions. Whether in production planning, sales or service – artificial intelligence is increasingly becoming a decisive competitive factor for industrial companies.

Industry meets politics – social significance of the Hannover Messe

However, the Hannover Messe is not only a stage for technological innovations, but also an important meeting place for international economic policy. For decades, the show has been regularly opened by high-profile political figures, highlighting its importance to the global industry. Among the most prominent guests were German chancellors such as Angela Merkel and Olaf Scholz, who repeatedly emphasised the role of innovation, industrial policy and international cooperation in their opening speeches.

A particularly big media highlight was the visit of the then US President Barack Obama in 2016. The USA was the partner country of the Hannover Messe at the time, and Obama opened the event together with Angela Merkel. His arrival with the legendary Air Force One made headlines worldwide and made it clear what international appeal the trade fair has. Such political appearances show that the Hannover Messe is much more than a trade fair – it is a platform where economic, technological and social developments come together.

2001 – a special year for industry and for IT Vision Technology

The year 2001 also marks an important moment in the history of the Hannover Messe. At the time, the event was strongly influenced by the increasing digitization of industrial processes. Topics such as automation, industrial software and the so-called “digital factory” came into focus. For the first time, production processes could be comprehensively planned, simulated and optimized digitally – an important step towards today’s concepts of networked and data-driven industry.
